Nach der Matura und ab 16. Juni: Auf die Uni, fertig, los!

We care!

The University of Graz is deeply shocked and saddened by the terrible incident at the BORG school in Dreierschützengasse. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the victims and their families. We understand that students and staff are shocked by this event and recommend seeking support to help process this tragic incident. This act has hit us hard and left us speechless! Nevertheless, we must not allow ourselves to be discouraged by such attacks, but should instead strive to foster a spirit of togetherness. The federal government has declared three days of national mourning. We ask you to consult within your organisational unit whether events should be cancelled or under what circumstances they can take place. Some events at our university have already been cancelled. Thank you for your understanding!

Equal rights for paternity leave: "Much desire, little reality"

To mark Father's Day on 8 June, a recent international comparative study on family and gender roles focuses on key questions: Who looks after the child? Who finances the family? And what about actual equality? The results of the "International Social Survey Programme" (ISSP) show: In Austria, approval of equal parental leave is growing - but behaviour is lagging behind.

Researchers at the University of Graz enable reliable monitoring of Paris climate goals

Global warming is continuously advancing. How quickly this will happen can now be predicted more accurately than ever before, thanks to a method developed by climate researcher Gottfried Kirchengast and his team at the University of Graz. For the first time, this method enables reliable monitoring of the Paris climate goals and shows that temperatures are rising faster than expected in the latest IPCC report. The new findings have just been published in the scientific journal Communications Earth & Environment.

When studying is more than just learning

Jan Hallmann is studying history and is only at the beginning of his bachelor's degree. He is already working in two roles at the University of Graz: in the main library and in a research project at the Institute for Digital Humanities. His path shows how study and practical experience can be combined in a meaningful way.
